Mini Operation - 2024/06/08

Situation

Strategic Command is deployed to assist the local Takistan military with insurgents crossing a neighbouring border and attacking positions across their country to de-stabilise and gain a new foothold to launch attacks from. The city of Zargabad has been secured by the militarised Takistan police force however their military presence has been significantly reduced due to the attack on a FOB to the south and redeploying troops to worsening situation across the region.

Insurgents have garrisoned and heavily fortified the town of Shahbaz and launched an attack on a FOB to the north of their garrison. During their assault, radio equipment was stolen and the place was subsequently mortared. Due to the radio equipment now believed to be in use, insurgent mortar and indirect fire has been periodically and accurately targeting the airfield, damaging multiple helicopters and planes effectively shutting it down.

Due to the indirect fire, recent attacks, lack of man power due to being spread thin across the region an offensive by the Takistan military is off the table. 40 Commando operating in region has deployed to FOB Obsidian, north of Zargabad to assist with the issue.

Intent & Tasking(s)

Priority intent of the operation is to locate and destroy the mortars being used to support offensives in this part of Takistan. Secondary intent is to recover and/or destroy the radio equipment that was recently stolen from the Takistan military and is now being used by insurgent forces for calling in indirect fire and organise their tasking's.

Map overview (high res)

Current intel is spotty however may prove useful in a successful operation.

  • Chatter regarding a weapons cache being setup to the north of Zargabad in preparation for an assault on the airfield was intercepted. Satellite imagery revealed armed combatants within a compound just outside the town but any cache is currently unverified.
  • A local shipment of chemicals that can be used to make improvised explosives was stolen in route to the factory West of Zargabad. It is believed to have been transported to a small compound East of Zargabad. Satellite imagery has spotted activity within the compound but was unable to determine if they are combatants or civilians nor if the chemicals are located there.
  • The enemy garrison to the South is heavily fortified and was used to launch an attack on nearby Takistan FOB. Drone footage provided by Takistan intelligence during the attack on the FOB show multiple trucks moving supplies and infantry into the town, rounding up civilians and establishing fortified positions inside and outside of the town with sandbags, combatants and static weaponry. It is recommended air-assets avoid flying south due to the amount of small arms fire and potential anti-air manpads as well as any planned assault on the compound be heavily recce'd before engaging.
