Op Spear 05 - 2024/08/03

Situation

40 Commando based on intelligence gathered from the IED factory where Phantom was captured lead to the current location of Sadiq and Ryder Stone inside a compound. During the assault Ryder Stone was killed by returning fire from a member of 40 Commando. Sadiq was captured, secured and extracted to Landay Airfield where Sadiq and Phantom await transport back to the UK. 

The known IED storage and ZLF main cache were destroyed by JAC and 40Cdo. Enemy forces within the green zone have all but been pushed back. With their lack of garrisoned personnel, weaponry and ammo in the area we should be able to remove them from the region entirely. 

Intel gathered from Sadiq's compound mentioned establishing a new compound in the southern areas of Zarmilana for Khalid to operate out of and a area for ranking members of ZLF to meet. We have a possible location for the new compound but unable to confirm if its the one mentioned. Securing the building and searching through it to confirm if its the target along with any intel can be gathered. 

A secondary piece of intel was a recovered map with rough plans for an attack on Landay Airfield once Makan and FOB Nauzad was secured by ZLF. Last night we believe those same forces have taken and fortified the radio installation to the north of Landay Airfield. 

Lastly, and email exchange between Sadiq and an unknown sender were discovered in the comms building however the contents were heavily encrypted. If the compound is occupied by ZLF, securing any digital devices or notes with passwords on could aid in our attempts at decryption and potentially locating the dirty bomb, Khalid and/or Hakim.

Reference situation report for known factions and how to identify them

Within the green-zone is the majority of the civilian population. ZLF compounds may have little to no civilian presence however there is still likely to be civilians nearby. It is important we keep their opinions of our presence positive else ZLF may gain more of a foothold and members in the region.

Anti Air assets are known to be operating to the North of the radio installation and South, around and near the compound. Flight paths should be confirmed before flown.

Intent & Tasking(s)

Gaining significant ground and removing ZLF from the green-zone has made significant progress to Operation Spear however, the two remaining high ranking members of ZLF, Khalid and Hakim are still operating in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran and one of them is in possession of a small dirty bomb we've yet to locate. The primary intent is to apprehend both Khalid and Hakim, along with locate and secure the dirty bomb. 

Overview - High Resolution

First tasking is to re-secure the radio installation north of Landay airfield. Remaining ZLF encampments and forces that were positioned in preparation for an attack on the airfield secured the radio installation during the night. 

Once the radio installation is secured, the next tasking is to locate and destroy ZLF positions and encampments to the north of it. There are known anti-air in the form of ZU23's and Manpads. 

The enemy compound in the south is deep in enemy patrols, once the north of the airfield is secured. 40Cdo and JAC should recce the compound and aim to secure it. Once secure and confirmed as a ZLF compound, it needs to be turned upside down in search for Khalid or any possible items of intelligence.
