Situation

Current situation

Strategic Command assets 40 Commando and Joint Aviation Command arrived in region at Landay Airfield. Organising and receiving relevant equipment for the upcoming operations throughout the day and into the night. 

The Pakistan Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) forces stationed at FOB Nauzad have initiated an evacuation, leaving behind a small contingent of personnel. This remaining group is tasked with maintaining the security of the base until the arrival of UK forces, 40 Commando will occupy and operate from FOB Nauzad for the duration of the deployment in the region.

CTD has relayed all intel related ZLF activities and the IED maker. This intel includes a possible training camp to the west of FOB Nauzad, a suspicious amount of truck activity near the town of Zaranj which may hint towards a possible weapons cache or garrison in the town.

During the early days of ZLF before they grew in numbers, CTD intelligence were surveilling a new member and while doing so, ended up getting eyes on a meeting with high ranking members of the ZLF, they kept eyes for 3 days but the high ranking officials never left the compound and haven't been seen since, it is possible the compound may have had tunnels that were used to leave unnoticed. However, as of recently, 2 of the known cell phone numbers tracked during that meeting has came online and had a significant uptick in activity, although the messages are encrypted it has given us two provided two potential locations to gather some intelligence on their latest activities.

It is believed that Ryder Stone has been captured by ZLF due to his previous role in Whitewater as a logistics specialist and that he had a direct involvement in moving drugs, money and equipment for ZLF via unknown methods. His location is unknown.

Within the green-zone is the majority of the civilian population. ZLF compounds may have little to no civilian presence however there is still likely to be civilians nearby. It is important we keep their opinions of our presence positive else ZLF may gain more of a foothold and members in the region. 

Intent & Tasking(s)

The main intent of Operation Spear is to confirm the current status and possible location of Ryder Stone and to apprehend the "Phantom Maker" responsible for making the bombs that detonated in the UK port. Secondary intent assist the CTD in removing ZLF by capturing and/or destroying leaders of their group along with their logistics network operating in the region.

Overview - High Resolution

First tasking is for 40 Commando convoy to FOB Nauzad with 2 x cargo vehicles containing equipment and radio infrastructure to be deployed for next operation. ZLF activity has increased in the region, while the roads between the airfield and the FOB seem clear eyes should be kept on possible ambush points and all vehicles approaching the convoy should be monitored.

Follow on tasking's are at the discretion of 40 Commando Coy HQ, related to the given intent, operational security and currently available intel.
