Op Red Resurgence 03 - 2024/10/05

Situation

Following the events of OP 02, our forces have made significant progress in disrupting Ivanov's regime, but we've also encountered unexpected challenges. The situation on Belmorra Island remains volatile, with the Armed Forces of Belmorra (AFB) maintaining a strong presence across key areas.

Rescue Operations: 40 Commando successfully raided the POW camp (OBJ Athena), rescuing two prisoners: a Belmorra civilian and a member of the Belmorra Freedom Fighters (BLF). The BLF member provided crucial intelligence on Zeuvo Prison and the current location of a small BLF force. Additionally, Alastair Blackwood was extracted from a nearby town just before AFB forces could apprehend him.

45 Commando Incident: During their mission to sabotage the bridge and railway building (OBJ Zeus), 45 Commando's helicopter diverted off course, was engaged, and crash-landed in enemy territory. Surviving members and the JAC pilot managed to evade multiple enemy search parties and was successfully extracted from a coastline by helicopter. However, this means that the railway infrastructure remains intact.

Zeuvo Prison Intel: The rescued BLF member has provided valuable information about Zeuvo Prison, gathered during his reconnaissance before capture. This intel suggests that several UK nationals and the GCHQ operative we've been searching for are being held there. FCDO, GCHQ, and other UK departments have confirmed that 23 UK nationals were on Belmorra at the time of the coup and their names have been forwarded to us for this upcoming tasking.

BLF Resistance: A small group of BLF fighters are currently hiding out at an abandoned resort that was shut down after the coup. They had been planning a raid on Zeuvo Prison to recover captured BLF members, but with their scout being captured and their reportedly limited numbers make this unlikely without outside support.

AFB Response: Following our recent operations, the AFB has likely increased security measures across the island, particularly around key installations and multiple checkpoints halting any advance from captured territory. We can expect heightened alert levels and potentially increased troop movements filtering down from the northern garrisons.

• Civilian presence remains high in urban areas. Continue to exercise extreme caution to minimise collateral damage and maintain positive relations with the local population.
• Ivanov's regime continues to control state media. Be aware that civilian information may be compromised or manipulated.
• Any sightings or information related to UK citizens or GCHQ personnel should immediately be reported through the appropriate chain of command.
• AFB has begun moving major assets into the south. AA assets are grouping up to cover MOB Ivanov and FOB's vital to preventing further incursions into the north. Armour assets have been confirmed to be moving into southern FOB's, followed by logistics convoys of fuel and ammo. Counter attacks are expected too begin on Airfield Mirskoy and British footholds over the next few hours and days.

The primary objectives of this operation are to capitalise on the intelligence gathered from our recent missions, rescue UK nationals and the GCHQ operative from Zeuvo Prison, and potentially establish contact with the BLF to support future resistance efforts against Ivanov's regime.

Tasking(s)

40 Commando (Stirling) + 45 Commando (X-Ray)

• [OBJ Zeus Alpha] Assault and destroy key facilities at the southern port as identified by our BLC informant. Focus on the building highlighted in the cell phone images, dropping it on the tracks should prevent their railway access to the port.
  
• [OBJ Zeus Bravo] Conduct a movement inland and plant destroy the railway bridge by any means necessary. This action will significantly disrupt AFB's ability to move supplies and reinforcements.
• [OBJ Gaia] Raid Zeuvo prison then locate and secure any UK nationals at the prison
  

Joint Aviation Command (JAC)

• [OBJ Zeus] Infill both 40 Commando and 45 Commando for their assault on the port and railway followed by the quick extraction of 29 Commando, 40 Commando and 45 Commando to Airfield Atamanka 
• [OBJ Gaia] Support the infill of 40 Commando and 45 Commando to the mainland for a raid on Zuevo prison, followed by the extraction of UK nationals and Belmorran civilians.
• Provide close air support for both 40 and 45 Commando operations as needed.
