Op Red Resurgence 05 - 2024/10/19

Situation

Following the partial success of OP 04, our forces have established a significant foothold in the town of Seredinskiy, creating a strategic chokepoint between the northern and southern parts of Belmorra. However, the Armed Forces of Belmorra (AFB) have demonstrated they are capable of heavily reinforcing and rapidly responding to our operations.

Seredinskiy Secured: 40 Commando and 45 Commando successfully captured and secured the town of Seredinskiy. Elements of the Parachute Regiment have been deployed to reinforce and hold this position, replacing 45 Commando who have been redeployed to respond to a developing situation in Africa.

Nekrasov Unreachable: Due to heavy AFB reinforcements and fortifications in the area, the planned assault on Nekrasov was deemed unfeasible. This leaves a potential weak point in our defensive line and a staging area for AFB counter-attacks.

AFB Response: The AFB has shown increased organisation and adaptability

• Engineering teams establishing both temporary and permanent fortifications around the Main Operating Base (MOB), surrounding FOBs, northern and southern headquarters and checkpoints on vital roads around the region to limit BLF's movement.
• The threat of the BLF hasn't gone un-noticed by Sergei Ivanov and his intelligence apparatus, counter attacks and ambushes on BLF forces have been steadily increasing to the East likely in preparation for an assault on the town of Mirskoy and nearby airfield.

Intelligence Updates:

• Intel recovered from the now known "Ghost Regiment (Призрачный полк)" communication camp, under the command of Sergei Ivanov to relay both intel and orders among assets has lead to us location the possible location of Lucas Romanov. A "safehouse" in a 9 story building in the town of Loboda.

Acknowledgements

• Refer to the situation report for detailed information on known factions and identification protocols.
• Civilian presence remains high in urban areas. Continue to exercise extreme caution to minimise collateral damage and maintain positive relations with the local population.
• Ivanov's regime continues to control state media. Be aware that civilian information may be compromised or manipulated.
  
• Any sightings or information related to high-value targets should be immediately reported through the appropriate chain of command.
  
• AFB has significantly bolstered its presence in the southern region, especially around the areas the BLF now occupy.

Commanders intent

The focus of the following operation is to exploit the intel recovered from the comms equipment at the special forces camp that points to the currently held location of Lucas Romanov in the town of Loboda. Recovering him could inspire the majority of civilians to take up arms and join the BLF, significantly turning the tide of the conflict in their favour. It is also important to diminish AFB's ability to assault Mirskoy and the airfield by raiding supply depots and disrupting enemy movement and positions in the south of Belmorra.

• [OBJ Zeus] Standby for extraction when the hostage has been located.
• Disrupt and target convoys and checkpoints that may respond or engage 40 Commando as they raid enemy postions in the south

29 Commando Regiment

• [OBJ Zeus] Suppress FOB Loboda and cross roads near the objective to prevent AFB forces interrupting 40 Commando during the hostage rescue.
• Locate and destroy checkpoints, artillery positions, mortar positions and enemy camps preparing to assault Mirskoy.
